She had always wondered how does it feel to celebrate Valentine's as she had never celebrated one before. Just when she had found someone who actually mattered to her, the circumstances did not allow her because of the distance that set them apart during those times. But she was okay about it because there were always other little occasions that she will celebrate with him. Everytime she meets with him brings a big smile to her heart.
He had never complained a single thing about their relationship to her, even though things wasn't right from the very beginning. Until one unfortunate day, two years into their relationship, she found out about the things he was doing behind her back. She wondered what made him do what he did. He was sorry. He didn't mean it. She couldn't believe him to really do such a thing, of all people. She was lost and confused. She was insecure, she wondered how important she was to him. He had thought long and hard, and said this:
"You are a part of me. Losing you is like losing an organ, is like cutting off part of me and let me bleed and bleed till the scar is formed.
You are the life I live.
You are the air I breathe.
You are the water I take.
You are the food I eat.
You are the dreams I sleep.
You are the warmth I feel.
You are the light I see.
You are the one I love.
You are, EVERYTHING, to me."
Any girl would be melted when a guy say this to her. Indeed, she was thrown right back into the little world of love she once lived in. She was really insecure, she was thinking about a lot of things, about him. It got even harder for her to escape that love that was pulling her deeper, especially when he gave her a really pretty heart shaped pendant for her birthday. She was really lost and confused. Deep down inside her, she really believed that she and him will pull through the obstacles and emotional rides together. She believed that it is these challenges that would make them stronger. She really did believe that it is going to be okay.
Unfortunately, her believes were not strong enough. She was doubting herself too. He began to drift, day by day, the distance grew, and eventually he was lost, into the world of care-free temptations, where everyone just want to have fun.
She was broken, but despite everything, she made herself strong. She gave herself time-frames making sure she will make her way back out of that shattering dream. She knows she cannot be trapped there for long, she needs to make her escape. And she did. Though there were so many signs that remind her of him, she was determined to pick the pieces of her broken heart and leave.
It's the time of the year again, it would be the third Valentine's that come and go just like another day for her. She still wonders what does it mean to celebrate this day. She knows she is going to be okay soon, but he comes back talking to her as a friend. She is still not ready, she is still really weak. She hopes that her mending heart would be strong enough to face the day, when he celebrates Valentines with someone else.
Though it is none of her concern. She is not part of his life now. She is not his life anymore. All she can do is just watch as he just forgets, and smiles walking away from her life. It only been three months that he said those words.
She has picked herself up and started to walk away as well, smiling slowly from her mending heart.
She knows it's going to be okay. She will find another special someone who will celebrate Valentines with her, maybe not this time, but next time, she will be. For now, she'll bid goodbye to him, as she has finally lost him. She still hopes for the better for herself, and as well as for him. They will be both happier this way.
